Black Theatrical Protest: #BlackLivesMatter
What does it mean to be hypervisible? How does hypervisibility affect the life chances of black people? How does community-based theater attend to these questions?
Using the Los Angeles Poverty Department, a theater company comprised of primarily homeless and formerly homeless individuals, this lecture-workshop will discuss the uptake of #BlackLivesMatter in contemporary theater and interrogate the impact devised theater can have on social change.
Join Missouri Humanities and Prison Performing Arts at Dr. Kimberly Welch's interactive Zoom webinar on community-based theater and black theatrical protest on July 19 from 7:00 - 8:30pm
