March 25, 2023, Prison Performing Arts staff and a band of board members and community volunteers packed up their offices and bid farewell to their long-time home at the Centene Center.
We’re excited to slide in alongside The St. Louis Shakespeare Festival at 3333 Washington Ave, just down the road from our old digs.
John Wolbers, PPA Executive Director shares his thoughts on the adjustment:
"For almost two decades, the Centene Center for the Arts served as a cultural and creative home for PPA and so many other St. Louis arts organizations. Countless artists and audiences cherish fond memories within its walls, and packing our company's history for the move was an emotional and nostalgic journey. Much like the travelers in our recent production of The Golden Record, we carry those treasured memories with us.
But PPA has always been its people. And our mission is rooted in the idea that where we find ourselves does not define us, nor is it where we'll always be. I am so grateful to the tireless volunteers who helped us with this transition, and so excited to be in our new home.
It's filled with more space, more light, and more opportunities for building our own second act. Not to mention the new neighbors are amazing! We can't wait to share our new home with the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, and (once the moving dust settles) our alumni and audiences. Thank you for your past support, and please consider a donation toward our even brighter future."
We are excited to move into an awesome new office space with brilliant neighbors. There’s a huge rehearsal space for our Alumni Company shows, and even an on-site scene shop!
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for as we continue to evolve, grow, and collaborate!
